Show Notes

When was the last time you lost something? I’m always losing something and frantically looking for it. I usually find what I’m looking for in peculiar places. I once found my driver’s license next to my shampoo and my phone in the refrigerator! Whenever I find something I’m looking for, I feel a huge sense of relief and happiness.

Today’s Scripture passage contains two stories Jesus told about people who lost something and became very happy when they found it. These parables point to an important truth: God has lost something or, should I say, some people. Don’t get me wrong. God knows where everyone is, but sin has caused a rift in the relationship with God and the people He has made.

But God has gone looking for His people to rescue them from sin. Jesus, who is God, came to die on the cross for our sins to bridge the gap between us. To restore our relationship with Him, we simply need to put our faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins. God’s Word even says, “There is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents†(Luke 15:10).

God’s love for us is so great (John 3:16). He wants all of us to repent from sin and have a restored relationship with Him (2 Peter 3:9). If you haven’t already, put your trust in Jesus today! And if you have, rejoice in the love of your Savior—who looked for you and rescued you when you were lost! • Melissa Yeagle

• Read 1 John 4:19. If you already know Jesus as your Savior, how can the love God has shown you motivate you to show that same love to others and share the good news of Jesus with them?

I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10 (CSB)
